5th April 2021 and my Red Sentinal or Twombleys red sentinel is starting up. I will decide this year what it is once and for all.

24th April 2021 and it's only just starting to leaf out. I thought i would show how slow they can be. Patience is very important. I do hear some people ask what is wrong as it hasn't leafed out yet. But all in good time it will..

1st June 2021 and my first posting here of my Twombley's Red Sentinel as I am now convinced it is in fact this, rather than Red Sentinal.

Edit 1. Back to Red Sentinal.

@Acerholic I don't know what your nice red reticulated maple is, but 'Twombley's Red Sentinel' is a columnar red palmatum, not a reticulate type.

This is why I've had it under the name Red Sentinal for so long, as this is what the label said when I first bought it.
I agree with your comments and I think I will put it back to where it was.
    Thanks M.

Hi D, I was wondering where you sourced this maple from as when I try and search for 'Red Sentinal' all the top results seem to be about Twombly's? Also, did I read it right earlier in thread that you have two of them from different suppliers? Are they both still alive and do they look the same? (lol, lots of questions...)

Just this one now I'm afraid M and that was labelled as Red Sentinel, it has always been a quandary tbh. This one is growing in a columnar style. It was sourced from Stephen Rolph a couple of years back, so that's the only info I have.
I think the mystery might continue.

10th July 2021 and even though it's cloudy and wet here in Southern England, my Red Sentinal is giving me something to smile about.

2st July 2021 and my Red Sentinal with overnight dew is looking quite happy this morning. But another day of over 30°C might be it's downfall. We will see.
