Thanks..it was the fairy prominent red bark that made me wonder. re potting - no not too deep, pots that get longer sun exposure during the day...
I only bought a bloodgood about 2years ago. It has solid medium red bark down to the graft, is this true to type? [ATTACH] [ATTACH]

Thanks - on this occasion there was no transplanting - my guess was that it was a result of the potting medium being compacted and bone dry ..so...
I bought this 3 year old Nicholsonii at a show last month..along with half a dozen other trees…I’ve not messed about or repotted it..morning sun...
